Brickbourne is small studio with private and semi-private art offerings for adults of all skill levels. We feature classes and workshops in ceramics, mosaics, book arts, collage, and weaving. We have a pottery and mixed media gift shop too! Please contact us for more information and to register for a class.
Workshops Friday Night Special
Girls Night Out Relax and have fun with your girlfriends while crafting your very own mug. Students will use underglazes, glazes, stamps, decals, and more to create a unique and personalized 20 oz. travel cup, mug or bowl. All supplies are included in tuition. No experience necessary. Registration ends one week before the start of class. Explore the basics of mosaic design in this fun workshop. Learn how to cut and position tiles and grout your own design. All supplies included in tuition. This workshop promises to provide a fun art experience for all skill levels. Class will be held in the Lucas Studio. Registration ends one week before the start of class. Spring 2018 Dates Mondays, April 23 - May 7 (3 sessions) 6:30pm -9pm Limit 6 students $60 (OPEN) TEEN SUMMER CAMP: TURN UP WITH POTTERY This week long camp is designed for students ages 13-17 who are interested in learning the fundamental skills needed in order to make wheel pottery. Students will learn the basics of clay preparation, throwing techniques, and glazing. There will even be opportunities for handbuilding! Participants can expect to learn how to make mugs, plates, vases, bowls and possibly other items. Daily lunch as well as a trip to the National Aquarium are included. Students are also allowed to turn up with their favorite tunes during the session! Registration ends one week before the start of class. Summer 2018. Functional Pottery: Wheel Throwing Learn the basics of working on the potter’s wheel. Wedge and center clay and learn how to turn basic thrown forms into unique cups, mugs, and bowls. Simple glazing and decorating techniques are also introduced. All supplies are included in tuition. Just bring your enthusiasm and energy! Registration ends one week before the start of class. 16yrs old and up. Class will be held in the Rose Studio. Summer 2018 Sundays, July 8 - August 5 3:30pm - 6:30pm (5 sessions) Limit 4 students $140 (FULL) Fall 2018 Sundays, September 23 - October 28 3:30pm - 6:30pm (5 sessions) No Class October 7 Limit 4 students $140 OPEN STUDIO Students will work in the Lucas studio on independent projects. This course will include faculty critiques on the first and third weeks of the session. All supplies and bisque firings are included in studio fee. Glaze firing fees not included. Experience required. Registration ends one week before the star of class. SUMMER 2018 Sundays, July 8 - August 5 11:30am - 2:30 pm (5 weeks) $90 FALL 2018 Sundays, November 4 - December 2 11:30am - 2:30pm (5 weeks) $90 DINNERWARE: HANDBUILT FUNCTIONAL POTTERY All levels of clay experience welcome. Explore handbuilding techniques to create traditional dinnerware including dinner and luncheon plates, soup and cereal bowls, and cups and mugs. Serving accessories such as pitchers, serving spoons and casserols will also be covered. Use paper and foam templates, bisque molds stamps, underglazes and slips to create a personalized dinnerware set for four. With the use of low-fire earthenware clay, you will discover a world of bright colors, surface decorations and forms unique to the low-fire process and materials. Book Arts SUMMER 2018 The Artful Journal Level 1 Fold, sew, and glue paper to make your very own journal! In this introductory class you will fold accordion books and explore concertinas, sew pamphlets with paper covers, glue single pages into butterfly books, and more. This class is suitable for beginners and also for anyone looking for basic models that can be made at home without special equipment. No experience required. Class will be held in the Lucas Studio. Registration ends one week before the start of class. Sun , August 19 & 26 11am - 3pm (two sessions) $100 (FULL) SUMMER 2018 The Artful Journal Level 2 In this class you will learn to make hardcover case bindings for pamphlets, flat back books, and a book with a rounded spine. You will learn about the structure beneath the boards and use bookcloth to cover it. This class is suitable for beginners, though taking Level 1 is recommended.
